Over 1,000 projects are currently in the pipeline to transition from the earlier United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC’s) Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) to the Article 6.4 mechanism under the Paris Agreement. While this mechanism is still in its early stages, Calyx Global aims to bring clarity to carbon credit buyers by providing updates on transitioning projects and labeling the status of credits we have rated as they progress toward approval for listing on the Article 6.4 Mechanism Registry. Below, we explain the Article 6.4 mechanism, the process for projects to transition from the CDM Registry and early findings from credits rated by Calyx Global.
